Gilbert-NS Lumber, LLC Opened in June 1997, Gilbert-NS Lumber Company is the newest addition to our green facilities. In partnership with Pocahontas Land Co. ( a subsidiary of Norfolk Southern Railroad), this ultra-modern, state of the art facility boasts a large capacity band mill and an adjacent high output circle saw tie mill. Utilizing Corely equipment - a 7 degree slanted carriage head rig, a line bar re-saw, a gang saw, and a slab recovery saw - it is estimated that the band mill output will be in excess of 25 million board feet of quality Appalachian hardwood lumber. The tie mill, with its turnkey Corley 56" circle saw and gang saw, yields another 10 million board feet. Ideally located in the southwest corner of Virginia, it allows us local access to our vast timber reserves along the Kentucky / Virginia border. This close proximity to our timber ensures fresh cut logs, which in turn results in fresh cut lumber. With its easy access to interstate highways, Gilbert-NS Lumber can be relied upon to provide prompt lumber delivery regardless of destination. |
