When
Buck Harless started in the lumber business back in 1947, his standards
were his greatest asset.
Tough grading, state-of-the art equipment, just-in-time delivery - all
were qualities for which Buck became known. Those same standards are
found today at each of the Gilco Lumber facilities - the same tough
grading standards, the same state-of-the art equipment (only today, that
means computerized scanning and technologically sophisticated drying
facilities), the same just-in-time delivery.
Gilco Lumber delivers something else -
consistency. Our mills are all located within a 150 mile radius of our
corporate headquarters - so each of our operations is held
accountable for its quality; each practices the same grading procedures;
and each provides consistent grading and quality of our wood products.
We're located right in the heart of the
Appalachian hardwood region - West Virginia is the only state that is
totally within the area - giving us, and our customers, access to some
of the best timber in the world.
Buck Harless started his company with
an eye to the future. We still do the same today. As a resource-based
company, we understand the need to use advanced practices in managing
the 1.2 million acres of standing timber we have... the need to manage
for long term usage, so we can serve our customers for years to come.
For over 50 years, Gilco Lumber has
been known for its quality, consistency, service and integrity. It was
true 50 years ago, it's true now, and it will be true 50 years
from now... and beyond.
